Topics include: basic biomechanics (levers, effects of gravitational force, effects of muscle force), anatomical terminology, skeletal anatomy, actions at the joints, major muscle groups and the muscles’ origin insertion and action. Select exercises from the STOTT PILATES® repertoire will also be broken down and analyzed in terms of the functional anatomy at play. Participants will deepen their understanding of the body and enhance their teaching.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Any trainer will realize the benefits of taking Moms-to-be from traditional Matwork™ variations to select exercise modifications on the Reformer. Using current exercise guidelines provided by the ACOG and bearing in mind common anatomical and physiological changes, appropriate STOTT PILATES® exercise adaptations will be explored using the Reformer in innovative and beneficial ways. Workout safety and effectiveness remain paramount and the client’s risk factors pre-pregnancy fitness level, health concerns and fitness goals will all be taken in to account when creating new and ongoing programs.</p>

At the end of the course you are qualified to design and teach essential and intermediate level matwork classes, integrating small equipment to add variety and to meet the specific needs of your clients. This course teaches you how to combine Mat- and Reformer-based workouts for increased variety and intensity. Upon completion of this course you are able to further motivate group classes and customize personal training sessions for a range of clients. In addition to the general course objectives you learn:</p>

<li>Effective use of resistance to enhance torso stability and peripheral extremity conditioning</li>
<li>How to develop effective Reformer and combined Mat-and-Reformer programs for personal and group classes</li>
<li>Essential, intermediate and power workouts</li>
<li>Effective communication, visual skills verbal cuing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation</li>

At the end of the course you are qualified to design and teach essential and intermediate level matwork classes, integrating small equipment to add variety and to meet the specific needs of your clients. In addition to the general course objectives you learn:</p>

<li>Workout composition for personal and group training</li>
<li>Essential, intermediate and power workouts</li>
<li>Use of the Flex-Band, Fitness Circle and Arc Barrel to enhance, support and intensify strength and flexibility exercises.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Prerequisites</strong>: Working knowledge of functional anatomy, some pilates training and three-plus years teaching movement or fitness.</p>
<p><strong>Duration</strong>: 40 hours instruction and supervised teaching, plus minimum 10 hours observation, 30 hours physical review, 15 hours practice teaching. Conducted over two weeks or three weekends.</p>
