ABsolute Core Barre™

ABsolute Core Barre™ is a high energy, low impact, fat burning workout. Its focus is on small and intensive isometric movements that help to trim the thighs, lift the seat, flatten the abdominals and define the arms. The group class incorporates some of the basic teachings of Ballet, Pilates, Lotte Berk and general fitness concepts. ABsolute Core Barre™ is a lively class set to upbeat music and is available to take as drop in.

The Session

The Session is 55 minutes in length and is a group class. The class starts in the center where we incorporate light weights, flex bands and some simple movements to increase the heart rate. Warm up stretches and simple plies are given. The concept of a pelvic tuck is introduced to further engage the abdominals and gluteal muscles. We then move on to the mat where we continue to add arm movements that engage the triceps, biceps and muscles of the back. The Ballet Barre work focuses on very isometric movements that target the thighs and the seat. These exercises are easy to learn and truly help to give the seat a more lifted look and feel! It is also designed to improve coordination and strengthen the muscles of the legs.

Our last phase of the workout moves back to the mats where we perform more gluteal work in both a supine and prone position and incorporate the use of a small ball to aid in some of the movements. Abdominal work follows this series. We focus on encouraging the pelvic tuck and give isometric exercises where we stress the use of the breath to promote the contractions. Abdominal work is also performed in a supine and side lying position to engage all muscles of the abs. We always devote the last part of the class to a series of stretches. This helps to lengthen and tone the muscles. Focused stretching will also help to increase flexibility and range of motion and give a sense of well being.

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00am
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30pm

Cost: $20 drop in rate or $180 for a class card of ten.
