My journey from Contemporary to Classical Pilates

In my heart I knew I had found what I was looking for, but it took courage and time to follow through on what I knew to be true.

As many of you know, I have been serving the Charlotte community since the inception of ABsolute Pilates, now 14+ years ago. It has been quite the journey, and many of you have asked what inspired the changes in the studio.

To answer that question, I need to go back to my beginnings as a classically trained dancer. Since the age of eight, ballet shaped my understanding of movement and eventually led me toward becoming a teacher, trainer, and student of Pilates.

My husband and I arrived in Charlotte with two small children, and by grace I was presented with the opportunity to be a founder of what we now know and love as ABsolute Pilates. In time, we became a training center for STOTT Pilates, headquartered in Toronto, the city where I was born and raised.

After becoming the sole owner of the studio, I continued searching for the best orientation for the work. I developed CORE BARRE, and later began looking for the proper affiliation and direction for ABsolute Pilates.

Three years ago I discovered the authentic classical teachings of Joseph Pilates. In my heart I knew I had found what I was looking for, but it took courage and time to follow through on what I knew to be true.

What you see now, a classical studio with new Gratz equipment and a team of dedicated movement professionals, is the result of encouragement from dear friends, mentors, and family.

I am humbled to present the authentic traditional teachings of Joseph Pilates to our clients, students, and fellow teachers, and I look forward to serving Charlotte for many years to come.
