We offer private, duet and small group apparatus classes, AIS (Active Isolated Stretching) for Bodywork and Core Barre group classes for all fitness levels.
We are dedicated to teaching the Authentic Classical Pilates method as developed by its creator, Joseph Pilates and preserved by his protege, Romana Kryzanowska.
Our studio is located in the heart of South Park and is the home of the best apparatus in the industry handcrafted by Gratz Pilates.
Private and Semi Private Sessions
Our Pilates Instructors will tailor your session based on your individual needs and goals using all the pieces of apparatus in the studio. You will receive a full body workout with hands-on instruction and plenty of attention to detail. You will learn the purpose of the Classical exercises so that you will gain greater awareness and understanding of your body.
Group classes offer a safe, energetic and a dynamic flow of exercises that incorporate the Gratz Mats, the Tower Units and/or the Reformers, Barrels, Magic Circles and Hand Weights. The 'Tower' is a wall unit with leg and arm springs, a push thru bar and a roll down bar - which offer resistance and an amazing full body workout that is suitable for the beginner as well as the more advanced student.

Active Isolated Stretching
AIS is a remarkable physical therapy and performance modality that relieves acute and chronic pain. It can free your range of motion to improve your posture or your game. AIS was developed by Aaron Mattes. By studying the origin, insertion, and action of every muscle, Mattes created an impressive body of work which includes over 170 stretches. AIS works with soft tissue, including deep fascial planes bringing in fresh blood and oxygen to muscles.
Core Barre - Smart Movement®
CORE BARRE is a group mat-based class and a beautiful system of movement designed to create strength, flexibility and a balanced body. It is based on elements of Classical Pilates, Ballet, and Athletic Conditioning and consists of high energy, low impact and effective exercise variations that focus on precision and technique.
Romana's Pilates® Certified Instructor
Monica Hoekstra is the owner of ABsolute Pilates in Charlotte, NC, founded in 2001, and the creator and founder of CORE BARRE - Smart Movement®.
Monica is passionate about teaching and enjoys coaching clients and students to achieve their optimal fitness goals. She credits much of her teaching style to her early classical ballet training, where she was taught the importance of a solid foundation & structured syllabus that is relevant to all disciplines of good movement.
Her teaching style is both encouraging and motivating with an emphasis on good technique, precision and control. She also understands the need to simply keep people moving while guiding them in their own journey of self discovery through an awareness of mind and body and the brilliant system of Contrology as developed by it's creator, Joseph H Pilates.
